- Over 25 years ago a newly wed couple decided to make the old barn their home. Both Mark and Gayle have been inspired by barns built by their grandfathers. They were captivated by the barn’s spacious open interiors and its setting in the surrounding California foothills. The transformation from a barn to a home was informed by a love of nature and culture that the couple shares. The home and gardens have frequently been featured on the local garden tour. When a house guest described their stay as if at a five-star bed and breakfast, Mark and Gayle decided that was their calling! A thoughtful and inspired design process has transformed the Hamlin’s already comfortable home into a luxury bed and breakfast inn. Gayle has owned a restaurant and catering business and delights in being able to share her creations. Mark enjoys showing off the rainbow trout he is raising in the 1/3 acre pond.
